2 Months with Katelyn
It sure has been a long time since we've had a blog post! I wonder why? We've been awfully busy with little Miss Katelyn! She arrived on Tuesday, September 28 (five days after her due date) and has kept us on our toes ever since. Believe it or not, she is now 2 months old! In those 2 months, Katelyn has grown so much and has learned to do so many things. At her 2 month check-up she weighed 11 pounds 14 ounces and was 22 1/2 inches long. She can now hold her head up, smile, suck on a pacifier, focus on objects, and make all kinds of cute baby noises! We couldn't be happier with our little girl and look forward to all of the good things and many adventures to come. We hope you enjoy the new photo slide show of Katelyn. It includes pictures from her first two months of life.

Early Bird or Late Bird?
This week marks 37 weeks of pregnancy. Katelyn's due date is quickly approaching! Given that her due date is more of a guideline, we're awfully curious about when she will actually arrive. Will she be an early bird? Will she be right on time? Or, will she be a late bird? We want to know when you think Katelyn will arrive. Feel free to take the poll in the column to the right!

A Work in Progress
Work on Katelyn's room has been in full swing since June. First, we had to sort through the massive amount of junk located in our office. Over the years, our office had become a veritable dumping ground for all things unused or unwanted. It was also starting to collect mounds of baby gifts that we had been receiving. Some of our office belongings were relocated to nifty plastic tubs and stored in the garage on new shelves that my brother and Matt built, while other belongings were donated to various charitable organizations. The furniture was either dismantled, relocated, or donated. Painting took place last weekend courtesy of my mom and Matt. Now, there is plenty of room for all of Katelyn's goodies! Her nursery furniture arrived at the store the other day, and will be picked up tomorrow. Stay tuned for photos of the final results! Below, you will find some photos of the office during its metamorphosis.

Our Growing Family
A few weeks ago, we had my sister, Cheryl, take some photos of our growing family at Crown Valley Community Park in Laguna Niguel. The setting for our photos is within the park's 18 acre beautiful botanical preserve. You can view a sampling of the photos in the slide show running above. At the time the photos were taken, I was approximately 30 weeks pregnant.

And the Baby's Name is...
Choosing your child's name is a tough decision. You want to select one that you like, one that flows smoothly, and one that won't lead your child to be teased down the road. Oddly enough, we had a boy's name selected in about 5 minutes flat, but it took us longer to decide a name for a little girl. Although we have had our baby's name selected for quite some time, we were reluctant to share it with the world too soon. Plus, it was nice to have our own little secret for awhile. However, we've decided that we're going to share our baby girl's name with the world! We can't wait to meet Katelyn Elizabeth Kemmerle in September, and hope you feel the same way too.
On a side note: I'm 30 weeks pregnant now, with approximately ten more weeks to go! We're busy working on the nursery and hope to post some pictures of the progress on our blog soon. Now that it's getting close to her arrival, I'm sure there will be more frequent blog posts. There really wasn't much going on during the middle of my pregnancy to report on.

All Things Baby
Now that we know that we have a little girl on the way, we have been busy making plans for her arrival. We put up new blinds in her nursery and are starting to make plans for paint colors, decorations, etc. We have made several visits to the baby mecca: Babies R Us and have started a baby registry. Matt was only too happy to be in charge of the scanner gun during our registry visit. We have been slowly adding things to the registry and continue to ask friends for advice on different items to get or stay away from. Thanks for all of your tips! By the way, who knew such a little creature would need so many things? We're going to have to buy a whole new house just to fit all of her stuff! If you want to check out our registries, please click the links below. On a side note, we had our 22 week doctor's appointment today. Mommy and baby are doing well!

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice!
We had our gender scan ultrasound appointment this afternoon and discovered that we have a precious little girl on the way! So, if you voted for team girl, you were correct! We were able to see every square inch of her growing little body including: her heart, brain, kidneys, lungs, spine, and even the lenses of her eyes. We were so impressed by the detailed ultrasound technology. She was quite an amazing and entertaining sight to see. Plus, she is quite the little wiggler. No wonder I feel little bumps here and there! She did not stop moving the whole time. Needless to say, we are so delighted to have a little girl coming in September and can't wait to meet her!

A Visit to the Doctor's Office
We had our monthly check-up appointment today. I am now 17 weeks pregnant. We had to wait an exceptionally long time to see the doctor. Matt, though, managed to entertain me by playing around with two long cotton swabs and using them as drumsticks on items around the office. To sum up the rest of the appointment, everything looks really good. We listened to the baby's heartbeat for a little bit, and it is nice and strong. Hopefully, I will start to feel the baby moving around in the next few weeks.
We will be finding out the sex of the baby in two weeks! We've got the great gender debate going on at our house. Matt is rooting for team boy, and of course, I'm rooting for team girl. We want to hear your opinions too, so be sure to share your vote with the poll located on the right side of the screen!

Coming Soon: Baby Kemmerle
Hello to all of our friends and family out there! We started this blog to share thoughts and photos of Baby Kemmerle's journey into this great big world. Right now, Baby Kemmerle has been baking in the "oven" for 15 weeks. He/she is getting bigger and bigger (along with Mommy's belly) day by day and is now the size of a naval orange. We are so excited to be welcoming Baby Kemmerle into our family at the end of September and hope you visit our blog often to check in on our growing family!
